Studio in action

The GBPS Studio Day Is A Hit!

On Saturday we took some photographers who’d never worked in a studio off to work in a studio.

I think it’s fair to say that our visit to Aura Photographic Studios was a big success.   Six of our members enjoyed the company of Gracie Love, a very professional and experienced model, Matt Walton who is just starting his modelling journey and Barry Phillips, the pro photographer and owner of the studio.

Gracie was able to help the photographers forget about model direction (not that it stopped the guys giving it a rather successful go) and concentrate their effort on how to capture the images they wanted.  Instruction from Simon Page and Barry Phillips were on hand for help with cameras and lighting.

Our first session saw Richard Johnson, Bob Simcox, Leigh Crowe, Claire Edwards, John Arnold and Martin Harrower all capture some stunning images.  From the enthusiastic conversations that followed I think it’s fair to say the photographic world just recruited 6 new studio workers. We will publish some of their work in a gallery here soon.

A session for experienced studio workers on the 20th of August is already fully booked but the club will be running regular studio sessions for as long as our members want them, so there's no need to miss out!  If you want to take part contact Gary or Simon to get your name added to the list.  We will rotate the names around to ensure everyone gets regular place on our studio events.  We currently run novice and experienced studio sessions.

And for anyone who wants to go it alone, Barry at Aura Photographic Studio has offered a 25% discount for GBPS members who are hiring the studio individually!  (Not applicable to group bookings).
